Happy 2007! For those of you who miss the beautiful snow this winter, I decided to at least remind you with this picture that I took in 2000 of how good it looks and how good skiing could be. I would like to share some exciting news! My website has been redesigned with a new look and new content. Please check it out at http://www.easternsciences.com 2007 Year of the Yin Fire Pig
The beginning of the year is a good time to contemplate on your personal and business goals so I want to give you a few ideas that may inspire you and help you in this process. As we all know, the energy of the year is changing all the time, but also there are some patterns that repeat. The Chinese observed that one of the cycles has twelve years (the twelve animal zodiac) and every year in this cycle has certain characteristics that will repeat. All twelve animals in Chinese horoscope are poetic representations of the Five Elements: water, wood, fire, earth and metal. This forms a larger, sixty year cycle: twelve animals by five elements. The Year of the Pig, 2007, is symbolized by two elements: fire sitting on top of water. According to the cycle of birth and destruction, which governs the inter-relationship between the Five Elements, fire is being conquered by water. A well known Chinese master, Raymond Lo, makes the following predictions for the coming year: "Fire sitting on water is a symbol of conflict and this may bring a relatively less peaceful year with more international conflicts and struggles. The fire standing on top in 2007 is yin fire which is compared to a candle flame. Whilst the yang fire in 2006 symbolizes the sun and represents openness, optimism, warmth, politeness and care, the Yin fire in 2007 symbolizes tension, temperamental emotions, agitations, and illusions. The Chinese calendar year goes on sixty year cycles. This means that we have experienced the same year of yin fire on pig (water) in 1947. This was the year when the Cold war between the USSR and USA began. There will be more international conflict and uprisings and unrest but such events may bring positive changes leading to longer term benefit for the future of humanity and global well-being.” Here are some predictions from Master Lo that might help you think of a better investment strategy for this year. "Fire is the symbol of the financial market and yin fire is illusive candle fire. Illusion of a good market can also generate over optimism that will drive up the stock market in the first half of 2007, when the spring and summer months of wood and fire make the candle fire appear stronger. However, yin fire standing on water pig – the terminator of fire, is illusory fire. But the stock market is often driven by illusion of profitability. So it is expected that the economy and the stock market will shoot up to very high levels in the months from February till about July. However, investors have to be cautious towards autumn and winter as there will be a substantial set back as the fire element will disappear during those months. The industries that will perform well in the year of the Pig will be industries related to earth and metal elements – such as property, hotel, mining, insurance, machinery, engineering, health, computer, and high tech industries. Industries relating to water and fire will not be doing so well. Water industries include shipping, communication, drinks, and fire industries are the stock market, finance, energy, electricity and the entertainment business. The wood industries – such as textile, publications, fashion, furniture, etc. are into a year with some superficial prosperity but not substantial.” People that are born in the year or day of the Snake should be the most careful this year since they are in a direct clash with the Pig. They should anticipate more traveling, or movements such as changing jobs or homes and they should plan all of their movements with a lot of care and caution. Although globally it might not be the most harmonious year, I hope we all will find our peace and balance by avoiding too many fire activities that will make our life more stressful. Instead consider doing more restful water and metal activities such as yoga or Tai Chi and, of course, making your living and working spaces more balanced and serene.
"How can I make more money and increase my wealth this year?” This is a question many of us have on our minds at the beginning of a new year. It is an interesting fact that in China, Feng Shui for centuries was practiced only for the rich and powerful, to make them even more rich and powerful. In fact, it was prohibited for poor people. This is why Feng Shui has an extensive tools set for how to attract more wealth and luck. From my experience working with many people, I have seen that some have pretty amazing results with Feng Shui in this area and others have only moderate results. This has brought me to investigate the subject of money and the mind more and it is clear that some people's subconscious sabotages their chances of being wealthy. There is a huge amount of books written on this subject and "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” by Harv Eker is one that I have found to be powerful yet simply written. I want to invite you to look at this list from the book and see on which side of the scale you fall in relation to "rich” and "poor” psychology. 1. Rich people believe "I create my life." Poor people believe, "Life happens to me." I wish you all the most successful, harmonious and happy 2007!
