Greetings!

The first peepers will come out and sing their song any day now. Spring is almost here and with it comes new energy and new opportunities. In Feng Shui, spring is represented by the Wood Element and Wood is a symbol of new beginnings, growth and wealth. If you feel that you are ready for these things to come into your life, here are a few tips:

  • Start with clearing the clutter that has naturally accumulated during these last few months (or years). By doing that you are literally and figuratively freeing space for new energy.
  • Take special care of your entrance since this is where energy enters and distributes itself throughout the house. Clear out all the junk mail, old shoes and clothes that have not been worn for the last few years.
  • If you have a home office, going through files and getting rid of what you no longer need frees space for new ideas and new business opportunities.
  • Another important place to consider is your bedroom. The bedroom represents the inner self. Clearing your closets and all of the drawers will not only help you have more clarity and peace of mind, but should also improve your sleep, health and even relationships.
  • Don't forget to check the southeast part of your home for clutter or broken and unwanted things. If there are any, clear them! This is blocking your wealth.

Remember that people are a part of nature so try to connect to it in as many ways as are appropriate for you. If you bring elements of nature into your home you can create a relaxing sanctuary and enhance some aspects of your life. Here are some ideas:

  • A healthy, large plant in the southeast part of your home will create a beautiful sight and raise Chi. It will also send a message to the universe that you are open for new opportunities and more wealth.
  • Place a water fountain, fish tank or picture of moving water in the southeast part of your home, if appropriate. Water feeds the Wood (the symbol of spring) and is associated with money and wealth.
  • Place a wind chime, colorful flag, mobile or wind sculpture in the southeast portion of your garden to energize Chi and make it move faster especially if things feel stuck.
  • Start a bamboo grove in the east or southeast part of your property

Don't forget that your body is part of the environment and spring is an excellent time to cleanse it. In Traditional Chinese Medicine spring is a time when the liver is the most active. Dedicate some time for the digestive system and liver detoxing and you will feel much more energetic and renewed for the next several months. I came across an excellent little book called If the Buddha Came to Dinner by Hale Sofia Schatz with some good cleansing programs and simple recipes. I've been looking for a while for something like this so I decided to share it with you too.
