Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese science and art of creating beautiful and balanced environments that are in harmony with nature, people and spirit.
Feng means wind and Shui means water. The two symbols represent the invisible and visible phenomena in our lives. Together they symbolize the flow of energy in the environment and the interconnectedness of all things on all levels.
The way that Feng Shui works can be explained by the principle of mutual interrelation and mutual interdependency of all material and non-material things. This idea has been accepted in the eastern world for several thousand years. In the west we have recently recognized this principle with discoveries in quantum physics which emphasize that everything is energy and everything is interconnected and interdependent.
Every place or material object has an energy field or is energy itself. Some energies are better suited for people and some are less. Some energies are supportive while others are not. The energy fields of all the objects in a building, the building itself and the land interact constantly with the energy fields of the people who live or work there. Therefore, we influence our environment and it influences us back, consciously or subconsciously.
Feng Shui is used to balance all of these factors and create the most optimal and harmonious space for the occupants. With a deep understanding of how the environment influences us, a Feng Shui expert can manipulate the energy fields or our homes and work places to balance and enhance just about any aspect of our lives. Feng Shui addresses not only how our environment looks, but how it feels and even more so, how it influences us on the subconscious level.

Feng Shui principles can be applied to any environment, starting with a single room and house to subdivisions, whole towns and even regions.
On the individual level, Feng Shui is used usually in the home to enhance any number of personal factors such as success, wealth, health, careers, inspiration, creativity, relationships, family harmony and self development. On the institutional or business level, Feng Shui has variety of tools to address and enhance productivity, efficiency, creativity, satisfaction and overall success.
It is not well known in the west that Feng Shui deals with more than furniture and accessory placement, colors and art. It addresses the whole architecture and location of a building. Traditionally, Feng Shui is used in the earliest stages of construction. It is implemented in the process of finding the right lot for a new structure and positioning the structure on this lot. This ensures that the new building will be in harmony with the surrounding landscape and existing structures and that its energy will be supportive to ensure good fortune for the occupants.
If Feng Shui principles were not used in the construction or selection of your building, you can still benefit tremendously from a consultation. This is how Feng Shui is typically used in the west; to address specific issues in existing homes or places of business. Feng Shui can help you create the most nurturing and welcoming environment that will reflect your personal energy and add to your wellbeing. Moreover, if you are having trouble with your career, relationships, health or finances, to name a few things, there is a possibility that your home or office has some problems that are contributing to the negative situation. A Feng Shui expert can recognize and correct these problems to help you overcome your difficulties.

Feng Shui is a body of knowledge that has been developed over several thousand years which has resulted in many different branches and techniques. Some of them are easier to master while others are extremely complicated. During the last century, several new techniques have been added to accommodate the changes in the way we live, especially the transition from a rural to an urban life style. Feng Shui is still being developed today to fit the modern way of life with the latest scientific research in environmental science, physics and psychology.
As part of her practice, Natalia uses the following Feng Shui techniques:
Form analysis involves physical observation of a particular site. Traditionally, four mystical animals are identified in the landscape: the tortoise, dragon, tiger and phoenix. These are used to map out the flow of chi. In practical terms, the site’s location, the surrounding structures, the building itself and its interior are taken into account to understand and optimize the flow of energy.
This technique is used to determine if an environment is overly active/energizing or has a rather low energy level. Analysis of building’s position, architecture and personal energy of the occupants helps to determine the sort of balance that is needed for a particular space.
The Five Elements represent five different types of energy. Wood is rising energy, Fire is expanding energy, Earth is sinking energy, Metal is concentrated energy and Water is floating energy. A large part of the analysis will provide understanding on what type of energy needs to be introduced to a certain room or part of a room. By introducing the right energies we can bring balance and enhance each area. The purpose of the room and the personal goals of the occupants are emphasized while negative influences, if there are any, are shifted away.

The Bagua deals with compass directions and their relation to the various aspects of our life. All eight compass directions have different energy which the Bagua relates specifically to our careers, self development (education), family harmony, wealth, fame, personal relationships, children (creativity) and helpful people (mentors, clients, etc.). Depending on what needs to be enhanced, a corresponding compass sector of our home/business can be energized.
One can also think of the Bagua as a clever solar design. For example, the southeast has beautiful energy of the rising sun. This is why the southeast corresponds to wealth, because it is good to have similar rising energy in our financial matters. Not surprisingly, it is considered good luck for a business to have an entrance in the SE. This is why in the home, we want to harness and enhance the energy of this sector by placing an important room there like a kitchen, dining room, living room or bedroom rather than a bathroom, garage or storage.

While the Form School techniques of Feng Shui are primarily concerned with the energy (chi) of a space, the astrological systems below are concerned with the chi’s change in time. Using them personalizes a consultation to a much greater degree and helps the client design their space in a way that will support them in reaching their full potential. Uncovering the hidden strengths and weaknesses of our personality enables us to direct and balance personal energy correctly.
This system is used to construct a “horoscope” of a building. It is based on the time of the building’s construction and a precise measurement of building’s position in space which is performed with a Lo Pan Compass. Flying Star addresses the change in chi over time for a structure as a whole and also for particular rooms. It allows one to predict outcomes in a particular space for wealth, health, romance, academic success or possibly fire, theft and other unlucky events. It is very helpful in preventing or minimizing undesirable outcomes and strengthening the desirable ones. The system is extensively used in China and Hong Kong by many practitioners, often as the most important and primary technique.
This system is primarily used to relate the building and its occupants. It provides information on a person’s most auspicious directions. It is used to strengthen personal chi and success by orienting the occupant accordingly in the building. It can be integrated into the decision of how to orient furniture such as beds and desks.
This form of Feng Shui Astrology is the fullest and most in-depth system for determining a person’s tendencies in regard to character, health, relationships, wealth and creativity as well as times when personal luck will be enhanced or weakened. Chinese astrology uses the relationship between the Five Elements, Eight Trigrams and Yin/Yang at a person’s birth, and over time, rather than constellations.
Four Pillars of Destiny information is derived from an individual’s date, time and place of birth. The results enable us to reach a profound self understanding and to strengthen ourselves by determining our supportive elements and balancing the Five Elements and Yin/Yang. This system is also used to determine auspicious and inauspicious timing for specific events. It is a very powerful technique when combined with Feng Shui.

Geopathology (“geo” – earth, “pathology” – the study of illness) is a field that has been developed in Germany over the last seventy years. It studies the influence of earth energies on a person’s health. Harmful earth energies can be caused by underground watercourses, earth fault lines and so called earth grids which can be detected by dowsing.
In general, it is advisable not to spend too much time in places that are affected by these stressed energies and therefore it is important to avoid placing your bed and desk in such areas. European studies have shown a significant correlation between chronic health issues and geopathic stress. The body’s energy is slowly drained while spending several years sleeping or sitting in affected areas. This weakens the immune system which often results in disturbed sleep patterns, tiredness and the development of some chronic illnesses.
Ceremonies and rituals are a way of accessing invisible energies and the quickest way of shifting stagnant and draining energies into vibrant and supportive ones. Space Clearing may include the clearing of negative energies left in a place by a predecessor, geopathic stress, or energies that are a result of sickness, heavy emotions and unlucky events. Blessing Ceremonies are a way to communicate our goals and dreams to the universe to get additional support by aligning our space with our best intentions.
Environmental psychology is a new (last 20 years) western field that examines the relationship between environments and human behavior. The research pertains to the effect of different social settings, learning environments, informational and creative environments and environmental stress on human performance. It embraces disciplines such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, biology, ecology. |
